One Way

Which Way ?

In a multi-religious society where there are many beliefs, how do we know which is true? Or are all religions the same and will ultimately lead to the same goal? For certain, all religions teach people to do good, but their objectives are vastly different. Some seek reincarnation till perfection, some are luxurious life in the nether world and some a place in heaven. How do we know if a resort is worth touring until we find out from those who have been there? And how should we know about the after-life unless somebody has been there and back to tell us of what he has seen? If you care to read on, I will show you such a person.

Life After Death

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. (John 11:25-26a) The words of Christ seem awfully daring! Who would dare say such outrageous thing? I would submit that He was either a shameless liar, or else speaking the truth. Putting His Words to the test, let us consider His very own death. He was whipped and later nailed on the cross because of His claims to the Son of God. He anticipated His death, yet He persisted in His bold claims - I wonder if a liar would attempt that? What should He profit in winning fame or being known through history? After all, what does He stand to gain if He obtains the whole world and loses His own soul? It requires a measure of faith to conclude that what He says of the after-life is true; but a lot more faith, yea blind faith rather, to consider Him a foolish liar!

Yet what make Christianity so unique is not a man on the cross, but an empty tomb! All religious founders remain in their graves but the tomb of Jesus Christ is empty! Herein lies all the difference with other beliefs - that one proved His authority over death by His own resurrection. Christ's resurrection is a historical fact and space will not permit me to prove it to you. The very heart of the Christian faith is in the resurrection of Christ, and the existence and continuity of Christianity bears testimony to his fact.

Only One Way

If Jesus rose from the dead, then He must be what He claimed to be, and what He says must be true! And this He says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto [God] the Father, but by me." What is it man cannot come to God except though Christ, the only way? Each of us is born with a sinful nature and the Bible says that there is none righteous, no not one. In contrast, God s holy and righteous, none of us sinners can stand before Him nor be admitted to His heavenly kingdom. Far all the wrong we have done, there is only judgment and hell awaiting. Yet God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The price for our crimes of disobedience and rebelliousness to God has been paid for by Christ. He took our sins upon Himself and died in our place. He proved Himself to be the only true Saviour by His resurrection. The only deciding factor now is whether you will believe in Him. This measure of true faith must correspond with a determination to rpent from wrong doing and to follow Christ.

Hearken now to the words of Him who rose from the dead :

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:16-18)

The message of salvation is earnest and urgent. For sinful man to be accepted by the holy God, there is only one way - believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God sent to be your personal saviour who died in your place for sin and who proved that His sacrifice was acceptable to God by His resurrection.
